Recently I was afforded the opportunity to become a part of the 2017 Kennesaw State University Homecoming concert planning committee. This committee is called, “KSU Live”, and is in its second year of existence. A few days ago, we had our first official meeting to start planning this years’ concert. Without much discussion, the obvious driving force for this years’ planning, is to come up with ideas that will insure a successful homecoming concert. In the past, the execution and ticket sales of the previous concerts, did not perform as expected, and the disappointment from the seasoned members of the committee was quite obvious. The aim of this essay is to explore and outline a responsible calculated plan, that will thoroughly explain how the …show more content…
For so many musical promoters, they have treated music as an indentured servant which made them wealthy and they refuse to give music the freedom it deserves. Music should not only be used to make one materially rich, but it should enrich the souls of all that experience it, still the music needs to be affordable for individuals to experience that enrichment. For the year 2015, a live concert ticket average price was $74.25, and the trend seems to indicate that ticket prices will only get higher with time. “The concert industry had another good year as fans continue to buy increasingly expensive live event tickets while artists at every level became even more reliant on concert revenues as their primary source of income. It was a record year for the North American concert business with the total gross of the Top 100 Tours hitting $3.12 billion, which is up 14% over 2014. Compared to 2011, music sponsorship in 2015 was up almost 20%” (Hodak). Finding companies whose products and or services reach your concert audience is the main key for this to be successful. Sponsorship participation is crucial to the success of the concert, by supplying much needed financial support and services. The initial success or failure of most major concerts is hinged
