Ticketmaster “makes money by charging customers a service charge, which can be as high as 75% or more of the base price of the ticket” (Hayes). This type of monopolistic control over the ticket market leaves consumers with little alternatives and having to put up with technical issues within the systems. Seeing this raises concern about Ticketmaster’s dominance over the market and its ability to inflate ticket prices is sparking frustration among concertgoers. Since the company lacks competitors, the fans had to endure the system malfunctions. Similarly, a famous country artist, Zach Bryan, released his album “All My Homies Hate Ticketmaster” sharing his disfavor towards the company. Even stating that “It is intentionally broken and I’ll continue to feel absolutely horrible about the cost of tickets in an unfair market” (Hopper). Ticketmaster uses the strategy of “drip pricing” (Ederer), which is added fees at the end of a transaction, to get even more money from the consumers which can double the price of tickets. Uses their dominance against loyal fans by manipulating them into buying the expensive tickets with fans saying “I’ll empty my bank account for tickets and feel no hate at all” (Hopper). However, these fans shouldn’t have to endure these types of circumstances and should have the opportunity to find other companies within the market. In conclusion, Ticketmaster's monopolistic control over the ticket market raises serious concerns among concertgoers. The company's history of mergers and acquisitions, along with its dominance over venues and ticket sales, has created a market lacking healthy
