Plot Killings, written by Andre Dubus, is an example of a short story that closely follows Freytag’s pyramid. The story is largely focused on love, murder, and revenge. The exposition gives some background information on the Fowler family. This section explores the minds of Matt and Ruth Fowler as they try to cope with the death of their youngest son, Frank Fowler. In addition, Matt meets with his friend, Willis Trottier, and they discuss the murder of Matt’s son.
“Killings” written by Andre Dubus is focused on the main character and protagonist Matt Fowler. Matt is the father of three known children in the story, Cathleen, Steve, and his youngest, Frank. Matt had his children with his wife and business partner Ruth Fowler. In the beginning of the story Matt is laying his youngest son, Frank, to rest in the cemetery after he was brutally murdered by the story’s main antagonist, Richard Strout. At the time of his death, Frank was in school and majoring in economics (63) and had a very bright future ahead of him, after all, he was only twenty eight years old.
Andre Dubus wrote “Killings” in 1979. Richard murdered Matt’s son. Matt took it upon himself to serve justice for his son, and family, by killings Richard. There’s no argument that the killing of Richard was justified. But, why didn’t Matt leave his destiny to the court systems?

The Worst Crime: Matt’s or Richard’s “Killings”, written by Andre Dubus, illustrates how the death of a loved one may lead to dire consequences for all the parties included. Matt Fowler’s son, Frank, was murdered in cold blood by a jealous soon-to-be ex-husband, Richard Strout. When the death of Frank sunk into the lives of the Fowler’s, Matt believed he had to retaliate in some sort of fashion. The sort of fashion he chose was to seek revenge and kill Richard for his wrongdoings, which he did. Some people believe that the murder committed by Richard Strout can be considered more serious because of his act of passion and his lackadaisical style of living without worrying about his future.

Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard’s book, Killing Lincoln, is mainly about President Lincoln’s time as President of the United States. Little do people know that Lincoln was hated by many Americans. President Lincoln’s assassination was slowly being planned out by a murder named John Wilkes Booth. Despite his careful planning, Booth’s plans had to be suddenly changed at the last minute when his plans to change. Booth immediately had to come up with a new plan and go a total different route.

In the story he was described as a great loving husband to his wife. He was also described to a good friend to Willis. But at the same time Matt Fowler avenges his son's death, finds no peace and is haunted by a sense of guilt and utter loneliness.

Roban was held hostage by Dan's killer and he plans to get rid of all unnaturals. The reason for Dan getting shot is because he had got the killer worried that he knew the master plan.
In the documentary Making a Murder, Brendan Dassey, nephew of Stephen Avery, gave a testimony that implicated himself and Avery in the murder of Teresa Halback (Demos, Ricciardi, 2015). Among one of the many issues presented within the documentary was the treatment that Dassey received. Dassey had an IQ of 70 and was taking special education classes (Demos, Ricciardi, 2015). Dassey’s IQ was lower than average but almost on the edge of intellectual disability (Dassey v Dittman, 2016, p.5). After giving the confession, he asked if he would be able to get back to class by a certain time to turn in a project (Demos, Ricciardi, 2015).
Love, a complicated state of mine one can be in, making it difficult to grasp the hard-held truth that comes with it. In Andre Dubus’s The Intruder, Kenneth a boy of wild imagination and a fondness over his sister Connie makes efforts to protect and retain her. As Connie’s boyfriend Douglas decides to sneak out and meet with her, Kenneth hears the footsteps and an attempt to defend him and his sister, he grabs his gun and shoots, for who he thinks is a prowler. The harsh action that Kenneth makes, is a result of the jealousy and deep affection that he has for his sister Connie.
The title of a story can have a deeper meaning than the words on the paper. The title Killings represents flesh and soul. The story Killings is written by Andre Dubus. In the story Killings some may think the author is referring to the deaths of Strout and Frank, but he is actually referring to the death of Matt’s mental health and self-respect. Matt has undergone an emotional change in his life that left him angry and sorrowful.
In the novel,” The Pigman” by Paul Zindel, two teenagers named John and Lorraine befriend the Pigman. Near the end, the Pigman suddenly passes away. Even though numerous things contributed to Mr. Pignati’s death, the stress of John & Lorraine’s party and Bobo the monkey’s death played the biggest part. John and Lorraine threw a party while Mr. Pignati was at the hospital, but near the end, Mr. Pignati unexpectedly arrived back home.
