Most of the violence we have is gang related especially in Chicago. Chicago is known to be one of the most dangerous cities in the U.S. A lot of shootings, rapes, robberies, and murders comes from gang violence. There has been 419 murders in Chicago this year. The murder rate of Chicago is about four times higher than New York City and 2.5 times higher than Los Angeles. There is a 25% increase of gang activity in Chicago as of 2009 to 2011. There are about 100 different types of gangs and a few of the most dangerous ones are in Chicago. For example you have the Latin kings, Bloods, Crips, Disciples, Folks, and many more. It was written by Reymundo Sanchez in the year 2000. The book was about a boy named Reymundo Sanchez growing up as a member of the Latin Kings. He lived in Puerto Rico with his mother and father, but also with very violent men. His father died when he was four and his mother would occasionally beat him. They soon moved to Chicago and there he started to hang around with the wrong people. He then became part of the gang after a hit on a rival gang. They fed him, gave him drugs and then they became his family. When Reymundo grew up he became more mature and noticed the truths behind the gang life. The youngest members risked their lives and sold drugs. While the oldest members lived peacefully on the profit and away from the fighting. He became aware of the lack of fairness of the gang life be he knew it would years before he saw way out. When he first joined the gang the kings were at war with other Latino gangs like the Spanish Cobras, Lords and Gangster Imperials. The Latin Kings later became one with the Gaylords, Vice lords, and Insane Unknowns to become the Peoples. Their enemies were the Cobras, Lords, and Imperial Gangsters called the Folks. This gang was founded by Luis Felipe, AKA King Blood, who later moved to New York where he began a new chapter for the Latin Kings. He was later imprisoned in a New York state prison. Over the years the gang grew and Felipe directed theirs activities from his jail cell. He was convicted on 18 murders and attempted murders. Their gang colors are black and gold.
