Thomas Mallory’s Works have been passed down generation by generation. Many authors have tried to replicate his works but none have amounted to be successful. They have only condensed the narratives, by cutting and simplifying according to the age of his audience, but always following him with more or less exactitude. One of the stories is the story of Launcelot and King Arthur. Arthurs such as Roger Lancelyn Green and Michael Morpurgo have simplified these stories which are from French Prose Romance. However there are many similarities and differences we must contrast between them. The theme and Plot of the stories is very similar and different. Both stories start with a Knight in distress who is need of a knight to take a sword out of his leg. But in Roger’s story the Knight says that Nimue, the lady of the lake told him a Knight would save him but in Michael’s story’s he just has a feeling that a knight will come. Launcelot then finally arrives with the lady of the lake and is turned into a Knight in both stories and pulls out the sword. But in Michael’s story it goes more in depth and Launcelot becomes King Arthur’s best friend and in Roger’s he’s one of his best knights and strongest but not his best friend. The characters in both stories are similar in name but differ in characteristics. The feelings and emotions of the characters are different in each story. For example, in Rogers Story Launcelot and the Queen love each other dearly while in Michael’s only Launcelot does. Another example is that King Arthur’s bond with Launcelot in terms of friendship is stronger in Michael’s Story but not much in Roger’s. This is because of the Point of View of each story, Roger’s Story is told in third person which makes leads to a distance between the reader and characters.
