The Historical Context of Arthurian legend Arthurian legend highlights some of the most popular events revolving around King Arthur during his time. None of the authors of Arthurian legend ever seemed to want to write about the life in general of King Arthur; instead they covered just the highlights of Arthur’s life. Even though the legends only covered the major events they are still important to this day. It is important that the legends covered the major parts because they tell people of the things that was happening around him even if it may or may not all be true. Since no one knew what really happened people told the readers just to believe what is written in the legends. The legends was what gave people some sort of answer to the question of how Arthur died. In Morte D'Arthur , King Arthur died after being wounded in battle to the point to which afterward he said, “but I may not stand, my head works so” (Malory 91).The way that King Arthur died in this story is commonly believed to be the way Arthur actually died.In the story, King Arhtur was injured in battle when he fought his enemy, Sir Modred.The death of King Arthur is important because he is one of the most popular charcters covered in …show more content…
