In Ancient Greek mythology, there was a King named Minos, who ruled an island called Crete. On occasion King Minos would send his navy to a village named Athens, ruled by the King of Athens. Out of desperation the King of Athens proposes a deal to KIng Minos. If King Minos left Athens alone for 9 years, the King of Athens will feed 7 boys and girls to his pet Minotaur. King Minos took the deal to feed his Minotaur. A Minotaur is a creature from Ancient Greek Mythology with the head of a bull and the body of a human. King Minos kept the Minotaur in the dark Labyrinth, the heart of the maze. The Minotaur is the offspring of Pasiphae (the King’s wife) and a bull sent from the sea of Minos. In Ancient Greece the Minotaur was considered a symbol of power. Prince of Theseus of Athens knew that after the 9 years of peace on Athens they have to keep their word. The Prince told his father that he will be one of the seventh son’s sent to the Minotaur to kill the beast. The next morning, all the Athenian children were pushed into the maze with the door locked behind them. Theseus used the sword to slay the Minotaur and then he returned to the door to find Princess Ariadne waiting at the door. The Princess came ashore to the small island and found nothing to do, so she slept.
