We all know the name Theseus and his slaying of the minotaur. However, most do not know about his young life and his many other adventures in his life. Theseus was born in 1261 B.C. His mother Aethra was a princess of Troezen which is just which is a small city southwest of Athens. His father on the other had is still unclear. Theseus mother Aethra laid with two different men on the same night. One being Aegeus the king of Athens and the other Poseidon the god of the seas. Still to this day it is still unclear who his actual is.
Some say when the semen mixed together it resulted in a two-part union giving Theseus a combination of divine characteristics from Poseidon and nature characteristics from Aegeus. With double fatherhood, one

He promised his father that if he returned safely to Athens he would raise a white sail on his homecoming ship if he defeated the minotaur. When the Theseus and the other Athenians reached Crete, King Minos's daughter Ariadne fell in love with Theseus. Before Theseus entered the Labyrinth, Ariadne gave him a ball of thread, so he could find his way out of the Labyrinth. That night, Ariadne escorted Theseus to the Labyrinth, and Theseus promised that if he returned from the Labyrinth he would take Ariadne with him. As soon as Theseus entered the Labyrinth, he tied one end of the ball of string to the door post and brandished his sword which he had kept hidden from the guards inside his tunic. Theseus followed Daedalus' instructions given to Ariadne; go forwards, always down and never left or right. Theseus came to the heart of the Labyrinth and upon the sleeping Minotaur. The beast awoke, and a tremendous fight then occurred. Theseus overpowered the Minotaur with his strength and stabbed the beast in the throat with his sword and then strangled it. After decapitating the foul creature, Theseus used the string to escape the Labyrinth and managed to escape with all of the young Athenians and Ariadne as well as her younger sister
