Kite Runner Redemption

In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, Amir the main character in the novel he is being hunted by his past. In the winter of 1975 Amir’s Half brother Hassan gets raped in the middle of the story and Amir decides not to do anything about it and he never tells. In the novel The Kite runner by Khaled Hosseini he explores past and redemption through the winter of 1975, how the past is and will always haunt him and how he meets Sorabh.

As time goes by amir continues to live his life but there is something that just won’t let him live in peace and is what had happened in the Winter of 1975. “That was a long time ago, but it’s wrong what they say about the past, I’ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the past claws its way out.”(pg.1)

It was my past of unatoned sins.” this shows how his past followed him and that phone call made him remember everything that happened there and specially the event in winter of 1975 that changed how he saw himself as a person and it also made him change the way he would have reacted in the past. How are his previous actions affected his recent live? Well it had affected him is various ways for example when he says “looking back now I realize I have been peeking into that deserted alley for the last twenty-six years” (pg.1) this shows that Amir will be haunted by the past and that no matter what it will haunt him and one can’t just bury the past fast because it will come back and Amir just can’t forgive himself for turning his back on his best friend/ brother. “I wished he would. I wished he’d give me the punishment I craved so maybe then things could I’d finally sleep at night. Maybe then things could go return to how thye used to be betweeh us. But Hassan did nothing as i pelted him again and again”(pg.92) Amir’s concious is just bothering him and he just wants to get some type of punishment for not being the “friend” that he had to be and this also shows how Hassan is and will always be Loyal to him this shows that no matter what happens Hassan will still loyal and he would never do anything to hurt Amir but in the other hand Amir did the opposite and one can see that it is bothering
