The adaptation of the kite runner film does diminish the complexity of the story to some extent

1.The movie does diminish the book to some extent due to the fact that certain incidents and appearances that we read about in the book are missing from the film which reduces the information gathered from the book to the film

2.The themes in the film are betrayal, friendship and love which are included in both the film and the book.The themes are in sync because there are incidents in the book that are evolve around these themes.

3.Although the film and the book are slightly different to one another
There are similarities where what we read about in the book is exactly in the film. The are quite a few incidents and character appearances the film does not portray such as, In the film Hassan is described as a boy who has a hair lip but doesn't have a hair lip in the film.”hair lipped kite runner”
