In his persuasive essay Eric Klinenberg makes a poignant case for the creation of a law that would regulate the use of air conditioning in America. He uses compelling evidence, solid reasoning and engaging humor to express the urgency and the importance of this matter. Klinenberg is an advocate for air conditioning, witnessing the way it saves lives and helps productivity makes him appreciate the asset that it is, But, he also sees the miss-use of air conditioning today. Through his writing you can tell that he is very passionate and knowledgeable about this topic and his genuine concern for our environmental future.

He builds his argument by presenting compelling evidence that appeals to the reader’s sense of responsibility. Klinenberg uses examples such as our American influence to coerce our sense of responsibility out of hiding. He uses the 20% increase of A/C sales in India and China to demonstrate this influence.
