The Klu KLux Klan also commonly known as the KKK cause a great deal of fear and panic in most of the southern states. The beginning of the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) was one of the worst social issue that took place in the 1950’s and 1960’s when racial problems occured after the civil war had ended. It all started all the way back in the summer of 1886 when a group of six Ex confederate soldiers made a club in the small town of Pulaski, Tennessee (Bjornlund 25). They went on to name this club the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) (Bjornlund 25). One year later in the year of 1987, the Klu KLux Klan (KKK) had their first official meeting (Bjornlund 25). They also believe some of the first klansmen were elected officials, police men, and political people (Bjornlund 25). In order to prove that you were a part of the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) they would have secret code words and secret handshakes so they know that they were apart of the Klan (Bjornlund 25). Most of these people were mad with the government for giving african american political jobs (Bjornlund 25). Around 1876 as african african americans won elections in the governments, the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) dedicated the Klan to the underground campaign of a lot of bad violence against republican leader and a lot of voters (Ku). Approximately 4,600 african americans were lynched do to racial differences (Ku). Most of the people that were lynched by the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) were african americans (Ku). The white men often lynched people because they thought it was necessary for them to protect the white women (Ku). Most of the percentage of these lynching or hangings occured in mostly the southern states for the most part (Ku). For about five years the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) went nearly silent until william simmons chose to bring the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) back to live from silence in 1915 (Ku).
