A social group is a group of people that have similarities in one way or another, this can be income, community, race, hobbies, almost anything can be a social group for someone. These social groups can define a person's life, and determine how they act among those that are similar to them. Kothari's life is clearly a good example of social groups as she states in her essay, "I hope he doesn't notice me turning my face, a cheek instead of my lips, my nose wrinkled at the unfamilar musky smell."
