History
Krokodil was first discovered in the early 20th Century but was named Permonid. It was a patented drug in the United States. The drug was abandoned quickly because of its effects. In 2002, the drug made a come back in the poverty of Russia. The people saw it as a cheap substitute for heroin. Krokodil is the street name for dorsomorphin which is an opiate-like drug. You can make Krokodil at home and it would only take you thirty minutes to manufacture with local pharmacy and hardware store supplies. Mix codeine with a brew of poisons like paint thinner, hydrochloric acid, and red phosphorus scraped from the strike pads on matchboxes. This would keep you high for ninety minutes to two hours.
Effects
The drug gets its name from the Russian word for crocodile. The drugs main purpose is to destroy the user 's body from the inside. Once you inject yourself, your blood vessels will break open and any tissues near will die. The skin near the site of injection will become tough, turn a green color tone and scale-like. Lesions will eat away your flesh down to the bone. The withdrawals make you savage like, reported to be worst than heroin (Krokodil Information, 2017). Sickness and pain can last up to a whole month and doctors are having a hard time finding the cure. In the end, if you do not get clean you can end up permanently damage with vacant gaze, erratic movements, and speech impediment.
