To what extent was the Battle for Kokoda a Disaster? Lauren Knappstein – Year 10 History – Ms Felgate-Pearce The Battle of Kokoda was to a large extent a disaster for the Japanese army fighting in the war. The whole Invasion failed and caused major devastation to Japan and the Japanese soldiers fighting for expansion and supplies. After being through starvation, fatigue and so much devastation, the Kokoda was a true disaster for Japan.
There were many reasons for the allied victory on the Kokoda Track. One of the major factors contributing to the Allied victory was their superior supply line providing soldiers with essential provisions. An American operation at Guadalcanal diverted Japanese troops away from the Kokoda Track, giving the allies an advantage. The Allies had numerical superiority during the middle to end of the New Guinea campaign allowing them to refresh exhausted troops. Finally the Allies had the assistance of the Papuans who carried supplies and cared for their wounded troops.

This new American State will be called Monkaushka derived from the Native American term: trembling earth or earthquake. The people that live in this state are incredibly friendly people who have a tendency to be outspoken with their beliefs and warm in their hearts. They are homely folk who tend not to leave their close knit areas for too long. There is an folk tale that crawls around the towns that no one has ever left this state; only those who weren’t born here can come and go. You would think that is ridiculous, but the landscape that this state resides on is unlike any other state and can verify the legend for many people.
Kimorah is a second-grade general education student from a school in the St. George area of Staten Island, New York. Upon having Kimorah assigned as my student and before meeting her, I learned that through prior assessments it is established that she is on a C reading level, and in the second grade. When I think of second graders, I think of babies that were just born into this world a couple years ago, but among meeting Kimorah I quickly realized that she is a person in every sense of the word. Kimorah is a 7-year-old extroverted girl, who is expressive and full of personality. Consequently, shyness does not affect her, but to break the ice further I decided to conduct a set of fun activities.
Karta is a 12 year old African American girl, who has experienced a long history of trauma. She was referred to me by her school social worker Ms. Johnson who reports that she has academic problems, severe inattention, hyperactivity, physical violent tantrums and is disrespectful to her peers and teachers. Karta was raised in a single parent household during the first few years of her life. Karta’s father died in a car accident before she was born so she never got a chance to meet him. When I was signing up for a tutorial in the summer, I looked at what looked interesting. I have always been really strong about civil rights, and had the state of mind that everyone should be treated equally. The only past knowledge I really had was about how much everyone in this class has like Black and their civil rights. I have always been really strong about the united farm workers because I read about it on my own growing up in school. Most of us can relate to these issue personalty or by family members because most of us are Black or Hispanic in this school.

The myth begins when Prometheus decides to steal fire from heaven. Zeus being angry at him decided to have made a beautiful woman on earth to punish the men. Zeus, gave Pandora as a gift to Epimetheus, Prometheus' brother. Prometheus had told his brother to deny every gift that came from Zeus but the myth says, Pandora was too beautiful so, he let her stay at his house.
Comparing and contrasting the similarities between the Greek mythology of Pandora and the Biblical writings for Eve, is an enlightening topic. In Greek, the name Pandora means, “all gifts.” Hesiod had written, many literary works that included Pandora and her creation by Zeus. “Theogony” was one title work of Hesiod’s and the other was, “Works and Days.” Hesiod brings to light, in his writings that Pandora was created for the purpose to deceive man.
In the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, the role of arranged marriages are delved into with the story of Zeus willing his daughter, Persephone, to marry his brother Hades. This myth brings up a variety of issues revolving around the societal views of women in ancient Greece. Zeus’s ownership of his daughter, Persephone, definitely reflects upon the role women held when it came to their own marriage decision, or lack thereof. The Homeric Hymn to Demeter can be read as a charter myth since the details of the myth directly reflect upon the ancient Greek practice of arranged marriages. While the Homeric Hymn to Demeter was published, arranged marriages were very prevalent in society.
