For those that cannot imagine life without a loved one, think about the trauma, disgust and heartache of living in a society where friends, family and neighbors are murdered for no other reason than the color of their skin. The Ku Klux Klan, a shameful terrorist group was created for this sole purpose. Hate is taught and the KKK, started and has grown from fear of other races in America. It feeds on hate and divide. This group has terrorized and murdered many free and innocent people. The KKK was made up of former Confederate soldiers that did everything in their power to prevent the black community from excercising their newly acquired rights. The Ku Klux Klan murdered and slaughtered any races different from its own. Anyone against the group, they had killed. The Ku Klux Klan soon became a household name in the United States and their reign of terror was soon going to be unstoppable. The Ku Klux Klan was the terrorist group formed in Pulaski, Tennessee during Ulysses S. Grant’s presidency. Their goal was to maintain segregation in the South and convert the Republican leaders back to white supremacy. As KKK founders found that their original purpose to maintain segregation was being obstructed or unsuccessful, they began to use terror as their trademark. They started to slaughter African Americans and many others that were not white. They began to target blacks and politicians that were against white power. Their reign of hate would become historic as they attempted to maintain a one power state in America. The uniform consisted of a white, cone-shaped hat with holes for the eyes. Their body was wrapped in a white robe with their trademark symbol, the red cross. This uniform was also extended to their horses. The horses uniform consisted of a white saddle with white drapes coming out the sides of the horse with their symbol and their heads were also covered with a white cloth with eyeholes. One iconic symbol used for intimidation was a large burning cross. In order to promote their distinguished characteristics they made the Klan into a fraternity that supported white supremacy and created a system that would keep it that way. An additional Klan requirement, was for its members to be not only white, and male, but also Christian.
