Over the past weeks, we’ve discussed various definitions of courage within Laches. Although Plato written Laches, he never speaks in his text. His characters Laches and Nicias give their own intribution of the courage, but never define it. For instance, Laches justified it as “… a man is willing to remain at his post and to remain … without running away” (190E). This definition is too narrow, because it only clarifies a portion of the definition. As the context progresses, Laches revised his definition as “… is a sort of endurance of the soul…” (192C).
