Lack of support for foster parents’ effects: the agency, the children and society as a whole. I believe that a lack of support among the foster parents at First Home Care is an unmet need because of the complaints, questions and concerns I hear not only at First Home Care but for the foster care system as a whole. Being a foster parent is hard enough for parents because it’s a new experience and new challenge with children who have been through more than most of us can only imagine. Most of the time, other than the agency, these parents have no outlet and no one to talk to about the challenges they do face, so they hold in everything they may be going through, and therefore, nothing gets resolved.
