Macbeth Literary Analysis Margaret Thatcher once said, “If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman.” Her quote is a great example of how Lady Macbeth takes control in William Shakespeare’s play “Macbeth”. We see this in the character Lady Macbeth, who is the wife of Macbeth. Lady Macbeth was the driving force behind her husband’s vaulted ambitions to become king. Therefore, she was willing to go to any length to accomplish this task, which included her stepping out of her gender role as a woman. Throughout the night it proceeds to become a problem as the guest began to question him. To protect her husband, Lady Macbeth is quick to act upon this issue. She announced “My lord is often thus,/ And hath been from his youth./… He will again be well.” (3.4. 53-54 & 56). Lady Macbeth had lied to all of the guest that were present at the dinner party.
