At the beginning of the play Macbeth and Banquo take down and defeat two invading armies. One army was from Ireland led by Macdonwald the Irishman. The other army was for Norway. After they have taken down the armies Macbeth and Banquo run into three witches by the moor. The three witches tell Macbeth that he will be crowned thane of Cawdor and king of Scotland. The thane before Macbeth betrayed scotland by fighting with the Norwegians. Duncan has condemned the ex thane to death. Lady Macbeth which is Macbeth’s wife, wants Macbeth to kill Duncan so he can have his kingship. Macbeth arrives at Iverness. Lady Macbeth persuades him to kill King Duncan that same night.
