Langston Hughes 's shifting attitude toward salvation in his essay was disappointing and at the same time upsetting. He 's disappointed and upset because he was forced to believe in the situation that something will happen to him inside before he accept Jesus but instead it did not happen. Most of the time we are pressured to accept an idea of what others belief, not because we agree to it but instead we intentionally do it for them to stop asking. Some felt the guilt after, and do something about it but most of the time we just let it go and move on.

One of the speakers wants America to go back to what it was before, while the other responds in small comments, building up to say the quote you read at the beginning. In the poem “Let America Be America Again” the author has two separate speakers with contradicting thoughts, the author relates to problems that were happening in the real world, and how the author’s rhyme scheme is a vital component to how this poem reads.
Langston Hughes is a poet, playwright and fiction writer. He wrote a short story "salvation " in 1940. The story was about a twelve year old kid and his religious experience. In this story the author was attempting to convey to the audience about how his experience in religion made him feel disappointed. Also; he felt guilty for lying to the people at the church.

The development of the Harlem neighborhood in New York City, as a black cultural time period in the early 20th century is also known as the Harlem Renaissance. This time period, 1910’s to the mid 1930’s, was very successful and considered the Golden Age in African American history, performing arts, music and literature. At one point, like many, a group of people who had no power nor place in society are now changing the world one step at a time. This time period changed America using Langston Hughes, the Great Migration and the “New Negro” organization organized by Marcus Garvey.
Langston Hughes wrote a short story called “Salvation” which follows the events of a young Langston Hughes sitting in a church waiting to be saved by Jesus. Only he is never truly saved. Langston, amongst all the other children, waited patiently to be delivered before his Aunt and all those in the church. As the night continued children began to embrace Jesus one by one until it came down to Langston and one other boy, Westley. Langston and Westley endured the wait endlessly.
In “Salvation” by Langston Hughes, he recalls a time from his childhood when he was at church. All the children of the church were being “saved” until he was eventually the last one who wasn’t. Feeling tired and pressured, Langston stood, declaring he had been saved. He felt horrible for lying, but the pressure placed upon him by the entire church outweighed the feeling of guilt. Similarly, people of all types experience a feeling similar to Langston’s; something called peer pressure.
In the article entitled “Salvation,” by: Langston Hughes recounts an experience at the age of twelve in which he was pressured to into believing in something is was unsure of. Hughes starts by giving background information to the readers about his memory in which he was at his Auntie Reed’s church and for weeks there had been a big revival; thus, one of the take ways from this was sinners being brought to Christ. He adds that before the end of the revival there was a special meeting for the children and that his Aunt escorted him to the front row to sit with the other children on the mourner’s bench until they were saved. His Aunt starts to describe that “you could see and hear and feel Jesus in your soul” and with no doubt, Hughes believes
Writing about controversial subjects can often be difficult; however Hughes executed his story, Salvation, in an intriguing manner that is suitable to all audiences and religions. In this story, the writer retells an experience from his childhood describing his journey to Jesus Christ. Discussing the complications, the main character, Hughes, faced while trying to come to Jesus is what makes the story interesting to read. On many occasions, you will read a story or watch a movie that shows the main character coming to Jesus and having an immediate and obvious realization of their Savior. For this reason, I found this story to be unique and relatable in the way that it shows a journey that countless Christians face, but you are not often granted the opportunity to read about this type of experience.

Langston Hughes poem Let America Be America Again explains his dream for the new America. Hughes explains in his poem how American portrayed its self as being a free country with endless possibilities, but the poet exposes that America is not the dream for African Americans or lower-class citizens. In the poem Hughes begins with “let America be America again”; however, he also adds America was never America to me. America portrayed its self as the land of the free; however, many Blacks did not feel free due to slavery and injustice and those who fought for this dream was cast aside. The poet also adds, let it be that great strong land of love.

An African American man who is 5’4 was sitting on a park bench in the central park watching the sunrise and feeding the pigeons. This man’s name was Langston Hughes. Mr. Hughes was reflecting on his life as a creative, humble hard working, adventurous famous poet.

Langston Hughes is forever remembered as one of the greatest African American poets of all time. When he was young in high school his father divorced his mother because of improper behavior between them and moved with Langston to Mexico. Hughes’s father had severed all relationship with the African American community, Langston grew up around his father who did never identify with its own race.
