Laura Palmers body is found washed up on a riverbank by Pete Martell. After Sheriff Harry S. Truman along with Deputy Andy Brennan and Dr. Will Hayward process the scene at the riverbank, the Sheriff goes to the Great Northern Hotel to inform Laura's father Leland about her death. Leland in on the phone with his wife, Sarah, when he gets the news. I felt really bad for Sarah because she was home alone when she found out. After learning the Laura’s boyfriend, Bobby Briggs didn’t show up for football practice he becomes the main suspect. Inside the train car they find a mound of dirt. On top of the mound is the necklace with half a gold heart and at the foot a torn piece of newsprint with the words “Fire walk with me” written over it. The writing looks to be in blood. When opening the safety deposit box that the key from the dairy belongs to they find a porn mag called flesh world and over ten thousand dollars in cash. A page marked in the magazine is from the classified section and contains an ad featuring a picture of Ronnette Pulaski. At a town meeting Agent Cooper informs the residents that a year ago a girl named Teresa Banks was murdered in the South-West Corner of the state. The similarities between the Banks and Palmer murders lead the Agent to believe it’s the same killer. Donna overhears her father tell her mother about the necklace found at the crime scene. He tells her that the police believe the necklace belonged to Laura because she is wearing one in the video but it is not found on her body.
