Lawsuit against Apple? “Basic American rights were at stake, and the purpose of law is to protect people’s rights”. (Tribune news service) There was a large shooting in San Bernardino, California. The FBI wanted to hack into the shooters phone but could not without the company Apple's help. Although, Apple refused later on. Many people died in this incident and the FBI should know every aspect of what happened, because it was a very important favor to the FBI that would have helped and saved time. The FBI asking for help from Apple was shut down, and they had to hack into the phone alone. The FBI dropped the lawsuit because they were able to hack into the phone alone without Apple’s help. Even though the lawsuit was dropped, both of the companies are still not over the fact that the favor was not made. This problem will most likely come up again in the future, and will hopefully later be resolved. The fourth amendment completely protects Apple’s decision of not participating in the Shooter investigation. The fourth Amendment says that there only shall valid warrants to search others personal possessions. The FBI did have a valid warrant but it does not state that third parties such as a technology company like Apple have to participate.It states that people have a right to secure their own possessions and keep them, unless there is a valid warrant and a specific reason to search through your possessions. Forcing Apple to help would violate the rights of the company. Apple is protected by the Fourth Amendment and could not be forced by the Fbi to help in any way. Although, if they did choose to help the FBI that would also not go against the amendment. As previously stated, the company Apple, helping the Federal bureau of Investigation
