A leader is someone who takes initiative and leads the group. A true leader doesn’t try to lead, they just do. A leader is effective in whatever they might be doing. Leaders have a significant role in the community; without our great pool of leaders, from all corners of our lives, our country would most likely be headed into a downhill spiral. What would the families do if the parents did not guide and coach their children? In a business setting, imagine if managers and supervisors did not have a goal and ambition to succeed… what would we do? Ralph is the natural leader and I’m drawn to him because is his outgoing personality. Piggy is really smart, but his reserved personality keeps him out of the spotlight and in Ralphs’ shadow. Together they are a great combination, they both shine when the worst of the worst happens. For example when Jack led his group of guys into the woods, Ralph and Piggy stood by each other. There are a lot of leaders in today’s world I could choose from. Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian… there are an endless number of possibilities. But, if I had to choose a single leader that has inspired and coached me, that person would be my mother. Without her in my life, I really do not know where I would be. She is one of the people that I wish I could share with everyone but also keep all to myself. Her heart is made of solid gold, she pushes me to do my best for my future and my well-being. I would hope everyone would have a role model in their life like I have in my mother. Being a leader is not always the easiest thing. Leaders take risks and make hard decisions. Some people are followers and that’s ok, we need those people, they are necessary. The qualities of a leader are sometimes hard to pin point.
