According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, leadership is defined as "the power or ability to lead other people." In addition to this, leadership Is instructing a team with flexibility, hard work, inspiration. Leaders have equal importance in a team; they are neither above or below anyone. The role they play on the team is essential to achieving the task. Leadership means creating a blueprint of the steps needed and also including the input of others to improve the plan. I believe I uphold the leadership characteristics that name a successful leader as well as mentors I have worked with. Additionally, a leader is not born, they are taught. Leadership is gained through experience.

My role was an instructor for citizenship classes. While teaching the classes I came across students not being a the adequate level. As a result, I had to modify the lesson to help the students adapt. Because I was teaching classes, extra time and work were put into preparing lessons. The inspiration aspect in this leadership role was mutual between the students and I. As the instructor, I felt obligated to make sure my students were kept motivated and determined to finish the course and pass their naturalization test. In my eyes, she is the true definition of a leader. Miss Tejeda is the director of this program and is very dedicated and passionate about it. I have never seen anyone so devoted to anything in my life. She dedicates all her time to coordinating multiple programs for the Hispanic community. She runs multiple programs during the week and also takes on special events on occasions. As part of the citizenship classes, Miss Tejeda has appointments to help prepare the necessary documentation for the naturalization test. Because she has become a very busy woman, she has adapted to a very fast pace life in which she does not have much down time. Miss Tejeda is an inspiration to all people she meets and helps. Much of the youth is involved in the citizenship program as volunteer instructors, like me.
