Exchanging information and expressing ideas or thoughts to someone else are an act or process in communicating. Communication is an exchange of information between individuals through signs, symbols, behavior, oral, and written. A good type of communication occurs when the communication is a cycle of sender, receiver and the feedback. In order to be called a good/ great movie, it should demonstrate effective communication skills. Leap Year movie is a romance and drama movie that shows different kinds of effective communication skills.
In the movie Leap Year, effective communication skills were seen such as eye contact, body language, silence, showing lots of emotions, smiling face, encouragement to continue, asking further questions, summarizing what has been said, checking for understanding and etc. Firstly there is an eye contact between the sender and the receiver. Every person that Anna (the main character) speaks to looks at her as they do eye contact to each other. For asking further questions, there is a scene where Anna was interviewed and the interviewer asks more questions. There is also a scene where Anna asks for a driver who could drive her to Dublin, even if the person she asked answered her questions, she asked for more other information; that indicates that they are having a cycle in communicating. When Anna and Declan met, strange things started to happen. Declan has this character were he always ‘make face’ or smile while having a conversation with Anna,

The use of effective communication skills helps the story plot or how the story cycles. There is always a conversation between two or more characters, which is why communication is always present on every movie. There is no character that does not use any types of effective communication skills. Leap Year movie is a good example of a movie that indicates the use of effective communication
