The school board of this district had written a policy prohibiting this just 2 days before after hearing that there could be possible protests. The school board forbade any students to protest the Vietnam War in fear that this would disrupt the school day.
I think random locker searches is a good thing. Because if you bring a gun to school and plan to kill someone that is not the right thing to do. You need to tell a teacher or an adult who you trust. Things you would find is stuff like drugs, guns, alcohol, and steroids if you are a sports player. An alternative route schools can take is instead of having locker searches, they can get metal detectors to prevent weapons such as guns/knives and/or drugs being on school property. It also ensures that nobody gets hurt and if someone decides to bring a weapon to school they can stop it at the door instead of waiting for someone to get hurt, then taking action. It’s less likely for students to sneak in harmful things that can put themselves or others in
School Dress codes do not allow students to completely express their individuality. Schools want students to be able to think for themselves and create a sense of who they are, but it is not easy when they are forced to abide by rules that take away from from that. It should be a place of expressing ourselves freely in a learning environment without having to worry about what we wear as an interfering issue. The fact that the school system cares more about the student dress code than their education is an issue in itself. Schools should promote dress code individuality because of religious aspects, mental health, and human experience.
