Does conflict help to achieve anything? Or do people just cause trouble for no reason? The dramatic play Leaving Home by David French is a struggle between a father named Jacob Mercer and his son’s name Ben. Leaving Home has a person vs person conflict because their is a dilemma between the father and the son which occurs in the play due to their habits and circumstances. The play reveals that Ben is like his father which leads to person vs person conflicts, this can be seen through their actions and speech.
Ben’s actions demonstrates that his father is influencing his behavior which leads to conflict. An evidence of a quotation in the story that declares that Jacob’s actions is same as Ben’s in the following, “Well listen. The faster you gets out to the real world the better for you” (French 30). The significances of this quote is that the father is trying to convey that to get out of yours mother skits and become a man despite of Ben’s actions. This means that jacob wants ben to be a man like him instead of listening to himself. Therefore, by realizing that Ben and Jacob actions have been critical, Ben condemns his father’s choices but instead Ben is trying to live life on his own choices. …show more content…

In this play the father’s behavior have played a significant role in terms of the influences he has to Ben. A major quote that I have found was in the following “ Go on with. You ought have a better sense, teaching the boys all of your bad habits” (French 26). This magnificent quote is truly amazing because this quotation is unveiling Jacob’s unacceptable habit’s, in which is impacting his kids and other family members around the house. Overall, you cannot be prejudice because what judgements you make on others it will definitely not lead to sustainable way
