Love is defined as a feeling of intense desire and attraction towards a person with whom one is disposed to make a pair. It is describes as a feeling, thought, and/or behavior. Love is mostly used as the replacement of liking. Love is a very complex tem and does not have the same meaning for everyone. For describing love we use romance and sex as subcategories for defining the concept of love. The definition also varies among cultures. Love has so many different meanings and has been studied through different models. The models that measure love are The Triangular Theory of Love, Lee’s Typology of Love that are mentioned in the book. At this time women had no power, but held complete dominance over their lovers. This love was described as intense and emotional and painful because this relationship did not involve a form of a bond, marriage. The love is very passionate and was secretive. One example from the movie is when Tristian lets Isolde get married to another man even though he was in love with her. That Tristian is loyal to his uncle and let Isolde get married to Tristian’s uncle. Second example would be at the end of the movie when Tristian pushes Isolde in the boat while he goes back to fight, letting the love of his life go. Third example is when Tristian fought in the battle to win Isolde’s to have her marry Tristian’s uncle, King Marke. The fourth example is when both Tristian and Isolde meet in secret under a bridge during the middle of the night for their passion is too strong for each other. The last example, is that both Tristian and Isolde are from aristocratic background, Tristian being a Knight and Isolde being a daughter of a neighboring king, which when they first met Isolde lied to Tristian about her being a daughter of the King. Isolde rescued Tristian and kept him hidden, while hidden formed a passionate relationship that turned into a secretive love. The list of tactics and techniques are seriousness, suspense, sex, setting, style and structure, superstars, subtexts, stereotypes, special effects, and storyline. In the Tristian and Isolde movie the setting of the movie is during the medieval times involves the storyline of Tristian and Isobel who fall in love, but Isolde is to marry King Marke. Tristian and Isolde meet secretly and get caught. Tristian ends up dying to help King Makre win a battle that has taken place at his kingdom. The seriousness of the movie is presented as a dram/tragedy because the man character dies at the end of the movie and Tristian and Isolde love does not end in happiness, it ends in tragedy. In the movie se is used as an appeal to lure the audience in sue to the love affair of Tristian and Isolde. The suspense of the film for example is when we have the conflict between right and wrong. That Tristian wants to be loyal to King Marke but he can’t deny his love and passion for Isolde creating a conflict if Tristian should ignore his feelings or not.
