Founded in 1916 by Margaret Sanger, the controversial federation known as Planned Parenthood continues to help millions of people internationally to resolve a variety of health problems. Because Planned Parenthood provides abortions, the government of the United States questions if it should continue to fund the clinic. However, there are several reasons, such as abortions, cancer screenings, and vaccines, that give rise to the federal subsidization of Planned Parenthood. Life does not always follows a person’s agenda, and Planned Parenthood knows that, which is the main reason it performs abortions. Although the facilities do not provide preventative methods for cancer patients, they have the resources to diagnose a cancerous tumor within a patient. The most recurrent types of cancer include breast and cervical. Many women who took advantage of Planned Parenthood’s uncostly cancer detection systems were diagnosed immediately after they were screened. Those women were able to receive treatment from other medical centers early enough that they overcame their condition. The most substantial reason behind this altercation is that abortion is viewed as murder. Planned Parenthood is prohibited from performing abortions on patients that are more than 22 weeks pregnant. Around this time of pregnancy, the baby’s organs are only two weeks away from full development, which makes many people believe that medical professionals who perform abortions are murderers. The misconception that these people have is that a woman does not need to abort her baby because she always has the option to give it up for adoption. Yet, there are many resources that report that adoption is not a popular choice amongst women with the option of abortion or adoption. An article from Adoption Statistics, for example, stated that 2% of unmarried women decided to place their children in adoption.
