The plays that we watched were similar in many ways, but also very different. They used a different way of visualization and created a different setting. Although they may be dissimilar, they both were very entertaining and amusing. Additionally, one way that they are different is that they made the reader/audience visualize the story differently. They used different props. For example, the author of “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” heavily included horses. Now, I realize that the actors better not bring in a horse to ride on, but I think that they should have at least got a stick horse! The author talks about how Ichabod rides a horse on his way home from Katrina’s house. The horse’s name was Gunpowder, and the author painted a picture showing the reader that Gunpowder is similar to Ichabod because they both are long and gaunt. The horse is also what almost gets Ichabod away from the headless horseman. The audience of the play never got to see the horse, they just see the actor playing Ichabod putting his knees out in a strange formation! Another important part the actors did not include was that Major Morris in “Monkey’s Paw” was …show more content…
For instance, in “The Raven,” the book made my mind think of a dark, mansion with a huge chamber and a large bed. Alternatively, the play represented a very small room and a small bed. Additionally, the play also showed the raven following the man everywhere, but in the book, the raven perches on the door. I was expecting the actors to do the same thing. In the book, “Tell Tale Heart,” there are quite a few policeman that come to question the main character. In the play, there is only one policeman, due to character shortage. Even though they only had a few characters, I think they should have reused someone, but the actors might get tired! At least that would make it a little similar to the
