The Legislative Branch is run by Congress, which includes the House of Representatives and the Senate. Its powers are making bills/laws, approve treaties, and impeach officials when necessary. Overall, the Legislative Branches tasks can be very complicated and, at times, can be one sided. A huge part of that has to do with representation in the House of representatives. The Legislative branch is majority white and it does not represent non-white people enough. Minorities need to be a bigger part of the Legislative Branch. Minorities have a lack of representation Just like with the seniority system. The seniority system discourages younger members of Congress and it ignores people's true abilities. With problems with racism always occurring, the people who are mostly affected by it cannot be heard due to lack of representation. Minorities cannot be understood either, so the only options that congress has is either ignore the problem or make assumptions because the can only see the problem from their perspective not everyone else’s. There are a few ways that these problems can be solved. One is if people reached out to minorities and said they would like a bigger minority representation. Another is making minorities feel welcome in the House or Senate. Usually this problem is ignored or pushed away. People don’t talk about this issue enough and treat it like it’s okay. There have been lots of regulations and bills that have been made without the consent of Hispanics or Asians or African Americans or Native Americans. This country will be able to become a much better place if there is equal representation in the Legislative Branch. Congress needs more representation from minorities. Everyone’s input should be heard not just one race. Also minorities need to be understood rather than assuming what their problems are. This Amendment wasn’t ratified until 1951, but Presidents had been serving two terms before this Amendment ever happened. Franklin D. Roosevelt sparked the Amendment by becoming the only President to serve more than two terms (he served four). Even though all but one President have served no more than two terms, the 22nd Amendment violates the concept of democracy by limiting people's choices on who they can vote for, not considering who is best fit for the position, and consistently placing people lacking experience in the front office. A democracy is where citizens elect representatives of their choice. With the 22nd Amendment in place, citizens have limitations on who they are allowed to elect.
