When Wrong is Right At the end of “Of Mice and Men” George is faced with grim decision of shooting his best friend and family member Lennie to ease both of their future pains. George has known Lennie for mostly all of his life and he knew that when Lennie was dead their dream of having a house would be over. George then makes up his mind and shoots Lennie making him think if it was the right decision or it was wrong. In this case the decision was right because of many reasons with one being that Lennie would never be able to survive in the world that they live in.

Due to that he likes to pet them he has killed many animals because he doesn’t know his own strength. For instance on page 9 George takes away Lennie’s mouse because it is dead, for stroking it too hard. But later on, his strength increases with anger and cause more problems.

When George finds out what Lennie had done, he has to tell Candy to tell the other, so when they found out they were all ready to go after Lennie. Although the action of George shooting Lennie in the back of the head in the novel “Of Mice and Men,” is absolutely heart wrenching, I completely support George’s decision and action, for he was providing protection for Lennie, himself and others. First of all, throughout the novel we notice that Lennie’s violent behaviour had been escalating higher and higher, eventually reaching the point where he killed a woman. It started simply with killing mice, then crushing Curley’s hand, then killing a puppy, and finally rose to the extreme point in which he murdered a human being. If somehow George had escaped with Lennie instead of choosing to end Lennie’s life, knowing that this pattern of violence would continue, it is probable that he could
John Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men is a short novel that packs a punch and really looks back at America’s past and mistakes. Steinbeck paints a picture of the late 1920s and early 1930s through two men, George and Lennie. George looks after the mentally challenged Lennie and must take action by soon ending Lennie’s life. The characters in the novel all struggle with heartbreaking conflicts but, no one else suffers more than Lennie and George. These conflicts are often supported imagery in the text.
Slim, co-worker and bunkmate of Lennie and George, explains how impressive Lennie is to George when they get back to the bunk. He has never seen a worker like him. Slim inquiries about their upbringing and feels it’s not normal for two guys to travel together. George tells him that they grew up together. He used to bully Lennie until he told him to jump into a river when he can’t swim, he almost died but luckily there was other guys around to help George pull him out.
In this essay, I will be exploring the characters from ‘Of Mice and Men’ and ‘An Inspector Calls.’ These two texts are centred on the relationships between the characters and how these personalities develop and change over the events that take place within their worlds. Lennie and George are both same and have something in common. This is shown by the quote “they wear cheap and hard wearing clothes, denim jackets and jeans to match. Denim was what working men wore, this shows that they are both working men and the same class”.
Published in 1937, the novel Of Mice and Men was written by John Steinbeck. Of Mice and Men is the story of George Milton, an intelligent but uneducated man, and Lennie Small, a bulky, strong but mentally disabled man who want to scrounge enough money together to someday buy their own little house and a plot of land to farm. However, Lennie keeps getting them into trouble so they can’t finish their jobs. Ultimately, George is forced to kill Lennie after Lennie kills Curley's wife. George was not justified in Of Mice and Men for killing Lennie because they could’ve moved somewhere else instead of killing Lennie and that George and Lennie were basically family.
