Leo Tolstoy was known as one of the most extraordinary novelists of all time. Two of Tolstoy’s remarkable and successful novels were War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Leo Tolstoy was not only known for his excellent works in literature but known for his moral thoughts on human society and life and making his way of peace and non- violence within our modern day way of living. With that he inspired many people such as Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Leo Tolstoy not only lived to compose a series of the finest literary works of art, but was also to be known as a “living symbol of the search for life’s meaning.” ("Leo Tolstoy (Russian Writer)." He was born into a family of four sons and one daughter. As a child Tolstoy experienced a phase of grief because of the death of his parents and of a few of his aunts and uncles. Because of this Tolstoy and his brothers and sister had moved from sibling to sibling and were raised by his aunts.
