What do you think of when you hear the name Leonardo da Vinci? You might think of one of his famous paintings, such as The Mona Lisa. Chances are, however, that you do not think of a horse. Leonardo da Vinci, one of the best-known artists and inventors from the Italian Renaissance, completed many paintings and designed numerous inventions during his lifetime. However, there was one creation that da Vinci never finished.

In 1482, the Duke of Milan asked da Vinci to create a horse statue. At twenty-four feet high and 70 tons, it was to be the largest horse statue ever created.
