Vietnam is a war that caused the US many heartbreaks and many headaches that would leave lasting impacts on its people. This war was a crushing blow to the mentality and moral of the US people in how they viewed their own government and how it fought its wars. Lessons would be taught with a high cost that not only included the lives of the men and women fighting but in the morality and faith of the people of the US. Some of the biggest lessons for the US to learn from was that lying to the people was a mistake, then the escalation in a conflict with no goals was a mistake, and then there is the loss of confidence in the military by the people of the US.
