It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter to give my highest recommendation for Toufiq Khan. As an Internal Medicine Physician at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, I have had the opportunity to see many pre-medical students over the years. Rarely do I have the opportunity to work with a student talented, ambitious, compassionate and empathetic as Toufiq Khan. At our first meeting, I had the opportunity to observe Toufiq in a medical situation where the patient had a cardiac arrest. Toufiq was there to draw blood cultures when the patient started to code. He immediately started compressions and called for help. I was quite impressed with his quick response skills. Not only was he dependable and reliable in a time of need when everything around him was in chaos but he was also motivated to complete his task when everything had calmed down. Toufiq is not only dependable but also demonstrates consistent follow-through on tasks at hand. He genuinely cares about patients and worked diligently to providing compassionate care. This is evident through the way he interacted with patients, responded to their needs, and respected each patient’s cultural beliefs. He was always helpful in problem solving issues related to test results of patients and would make suggestions regarding tests that could be combined or eliminated. He followed PHI and respected patient’s confidentiality when relaying of results and always asked for help when he was unsure of something. Toufiq dealings with patients and staff were respectful, compassionate and professional. He works well in a collaborative team environment. He brings the best out of those that work with him through facilitating higher level of enthusiasm and achievement.
