I grew up in a single parent household, my mother who struggled to take care of me, instilled the prize of an education. Therefore, I always knew I wanted to go to college. However, what career path I wanted to take was not clear until I was sitting in my 8th grade Science class. That day in class the biography of Ms. Henrietta Lacks and the HeLa cell line was introduced. The story of Ms. Lacks sparked a fire within me, and I knew from that very moment, I had found something that had my interest at heart. I knew that I wanted to pave the way for candid treatment and diagnosis of patients worldwide. In the process, I became intrigued with experimentation and learning to comprehensively understand the nature of Science. Indeed, my intent to pursue an education in Clinical Laboratory Science was influenced by my eagerness to learn the mechanisms that controlled cell behavior. Furthermore, I was inspired by the idea of becoming a diligent healthcare professional. My ambitious spirit led me to furthering my education and earning a Bachelor's in Biology at Dillard University. …show more content…

Studying Biology and Chemistry prepared me for further independent study, and my substantial laboratory experience provided me the opportunity to interact with multiple scholars and experts in the field. Within my four years in college, I took pleasure in all my laboratory courses and have benefitted from a broad exposure to different laboratories and scientific techniques and equipment which are vital in the Clinical Laboratory Sciences field. My instructors taught me to look at scientific questions using a systematic approach that will serve me well in continuing my education and throughout my career. Deciding to major in Biology positively molded me into a more confident person and guided me to pursue a fascinating specialty, such as Clinical Laboratory
