I hope to one day either be a professional working in vocational ministry in the United Methodist Church or in clinical psychology. Ever since I was very young I have been enthralled by Christian teachings and doing good in the world. In high school, I had the opportunity to work hands on in ministry at my high school through multiple avenues: leading small groups, talking to peers one-on-one, and even giving sermon messages. It was through this that I have come to realize that I love being a part of ministry. When I decided to start considering career paths it only made sense that I would pursue what I already have a great interest in. Arriving on campus just six months ago, I was not considering being a part of Student Government Association. Now, I am the first-year class president, and I have grown so much through being in that leadership position. I would have never considered being a part of fraternity life, because of the negative stereotypes. Now, I am a part of a fraternity, and it is one of the most encouraging and uplifting communities I have ever been a part of. I did not do competitive Speech and Debate in high school, now I am a college level debater, and I will be competing in national in March. I can truly say that growth doesn’t occur when I just do all of the things that I always do. Growth occurs when I throw myself head-first into something I have never tried before, and that is what is happening at Simpson
