I, Jamal Azam Jadoon, would introduce myself as a prospective student aspiring to pursue my Masters in Geology at the Memorial University for the session of September 2015. My goal is to earn a degree of Ph.D., but enrolling in a master's program will allow me to discover my interests and make a more justified decision about which discipline to pursue as a specialization in the future. I have completed me bachelor degree in Earth Sciences with majoring in Applied Geophysics from COMSATS Institute of Information Technology. It always excites me because of the everlasting combination of physics and earth sciences. I have always been interested in calculations involved in geophysics, carrying useful information in order to characterize the earth’s subsurface. The most fascinating idea is modeling of natural systems with aid of calculations; I think those techniques and ideas could be put together for good use in geophysical science. …show more content…

A part from the theory and lab work I have been also exposed to a number of field-works in different areas of Pakistan. Beside with theoretical and field work, I decided to conduct my final year research project on the topic “Delineation of ground water bearing zone of Abbottabad with electrical resistivity data and well log data’’ by which I was able to predict the aquifer model and basin characteristics of local area along with other scientific conclusions. I was not only limited to my research but was also involved in different seismic reflection and well logging projects which gave me clearer vision of geophysics and geology dealing from near-surface investigations to oil and gas
