BACKGROUND Knowing the background of the job of interest not only provides an upper hand but an idea of what type of atmosphere it has been throughout the years. Knowing the history, key individuals, purpose statement and values, and mission statements can sometimes persuade applicants to apply for a job with the institution. Encountering this information has become much easier with the use of the internet and search engines. History “Texas A&M University and Prairie View A&M University were first founded as land-grant colleges in 1876,” years later the A&M system was established in 1948 by the Texas Legislature.
I would like to attend Texas A&M University of Corpus Christi because it has one of the best nursing programs. I have been accepted into this university. It is close to my hometown which makes me feel safe. Attending the university will be a good experience for me.
As I think of the University of Mississippi, the aspect that most impresses me, and is an addition to my desire to immerse myself in this prominent learning community is the University's outstanding resources. I am very attracted to the opportunity to explore and learn at the University of Mississippi's science departments. Science has been my academic passion ever since I entered middle school. Since then, I have always wanted to get into the medical field to become a neurologist. I believe the brain is a black box with endless mysteries waiting to be explored.
I come from a lower, middle class family. Both of my parents are employed full time but do not make enough income to supply the $20,000 it takes to attend Missouri State. They have always encouraged me to want more for myself, both in my career and in my life in general. Although I am still deciding on a major, I know that I want to make enough money to live comfortably and be able to provide for my family.
The majority of my life has been spent placing critical life events and accomplishments onto a timeline. For instance, it has been twenty-one years since I first wrapped my teddy bears in bandages and diagnosed their illnesses. It has been eleven years since I decided to become a nurse. It has been seven years since I was first admitted to Texas A&M University and struggled with the pressures of doing well in college while balancing a personal and family life. It has been almost three years since I last stepped foot on Texas A&M soil.
Single Parent to Graduate Student Enrolling in Northcentral University, NCU to obtain my graduate degree in education is one of accomplishment and a new beginning to a new career. I have always had a passion for indifference, injustice, and making a difference. I have an associate’s degree in computer science and a bachelor’s degree in Human and Family Services. I went from having a degree in computer science to a human service degree because of a family tragedy that made me evaluate my purpose in life as an individual. I am currently a case manager with a mental health/mental retardation organization and a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer.
Malcolm X said, “ Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” The meaning of this quote is that if you have education and you go to school and learn you will have a better future. If you prepare yourself now and learn, tomorrow you would become better person. Without of knowledge you cannot accomplish anything. I decided to college so I can became better person tomorrow.
Deciding to attend Texas A&M University was both a hardship and immense, opportunity in my life. Coming from a close knit background, and possessing a very family oriented character, my decision to come to this incredible institution was one out of my comfort zone. If I was to be asked one year ago, If I could ever see myself standing on this marvelous campus, attending one of the top schools in the nation, I would have honestly responded, no. My counselors would have said no, my friends, my college advisor, my family. The answer would not have been yes, not because I wasn 't capable of meeting the standards to attend, but because there seemed more obstacles in my way than there was forces pushing me forward.
All along, I have managed to maintain the principles of ethics and integrity, a strong sense of purpose, and morality, which binds me rigidly. Appointment as student leader in all stages of my school and college life has presented me with opportunity to interact with people, develop organizational and communication skills. My involvement with speech, debate and sports has made me more than just an academic person In the pursuit of excellence and with a passion to reach the highest skills in my discipline, I look upon University of Texas, Arlington a springboard to accomplish my dreams. This esteemed institution can serve as a ladder and enable me to achieve higher aims by providing me the most contemporary input and exposure.
Why University of Dallas I love chemistry and mathematics. I am intrigued by nature of materials and how materials interact ad react in different environments and using these characteristics and mathematics to finding solutions to problems. These subjects interest me the most because knowing the nature of materials gives you an opportunity to find new uses of it and even create new materials that can serve to improve our lives. My goal is to develop a concrete understanding of chemistry field to the degree that I can work as a researcher in the medical or pharmaceutical industry and use knowledge, skills and experience to come up with findings and even solutions to problems and thus improve our lives.
Goals are the most important duty in a person’s life not having goals in life gives nothing to look forward to. Goals tend to change over time as you, change yourself over time. The goals that I will cover in this essay will be my personal goal which is to finish up the couple of classes that I have left so I am able to transfer to Texas A&M to finish my Animal Science degree. For me to succeed this goal I need to better myself in my study habits and have a better understanding. Therefore, at times people hit obstacles along the way to reaching these goals.
Naturally inquisitive and intellectually curious, I am a senior at Oklahoma State University pursuing, B.S. in Industrial Engineering. As an industrial engineering major I have studied a blend of business and technical subjects. I have always been interested in how individual things work in a system and have learned the science and art of designing processes and systems with better quality and productivity. Using knowledge of engineering, mathematics, business administration, and management, I have focused on the way products and services are made and performed. I have always believed in collaborating to achieve shared goals and have developed through challenging experiences.
Before coming to Oklahoma State University and joining the Freshman Research Scholars Program, what research really entails was a complete mystery to me. As a high school student, I was always intrigued by science, but specifically innovation within science. That’s why I knew I needed to apply for the Freshman Research Scholars Program, as well as attend Oklahoma State University after I was accepted to the program. All in all, participating in this program broadened my understanding of what research is, enhanced my knowledge of science topics relevant to my major, and improved professional skills.
