Personal Statement for Graduate School
I was born and grew up in Afghanistan and finished my school in Kabul Afghanistan, in a school which was trying to encourage girls and women to get education and be active in their social life. Growing as women in Afghanistan is not easy. Even sometime you need to fight for your basic rights such going out, school or you cannot decide about your life. In some areas such as rural areas women even do not know about their rights. They think that their families, father, mother or brother have right to make decision for them and women should not get education. In Kabul as capital city we can see changes in women’s life but still there is a huge gape for them to get all their citizen rights as equal as men.The reason that why I decided to work for women, goes to the time when I was attending school but I could not do anything as boys were doing or I could not go to everywhere as boys were going. As one of my memory, at the time of exam periods in the nights boys were allowed to stay in school and study in nights but the girls were not allowed to stay. Though this memory seems little, it was the first spark in my mind to make some serious decisions and as a woman work for women.

What made me to think about studying politics seriously was the less number of women in politics. In Afghanistan there is less number for women than men in political activities, such as parliament and other political sections. I studied as an undergraduate in Politics, philosophy and economic in Asian University for women and I was active in political matter related to women rights and women activities in my country,
