Where do you want to be five years from now? For the majority of high school seniors, this may be a difficult question to answer, but it is simple for me: I want to be in medical school. Through the health occupations program at Edwardsville High School, I have been exposed to the medical field and now I am certain that I want to become a doctor, so the Guaranteed Professional Program Admissions program at the University of Illinois at Chicago would be an amazing opportunity because it would take some of the uncertainty about the future away, so then I can focus solely on preparing for medical school. Edwardsville High School has a health occupations program that has benefited me tremendously because it has confirmed that a career as a physician is right for me. The health occupations program consists of three yearlong courses. Throughout these classes, you learn valuable knowledge about the medical field ranging from different medical careers to pathophysiology. Knowing that I am already accepted into the medical school at UIC would give me a great sense of security that would take away some of the stress as I prepare for graduate school. Moreover, direct admission into medical school would give me extra motivation to do well in school, because if I do not, I could lose my spot in graduate school. I am a fantastic candidate for this program because unlike other applicants, I have already gone through the process of considering different medical careers and specialties.
