The novel, In Cold Blood, is by the professional writer responsible for writing Other Voices, Other Rooms, as well as the novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s; his name is Truman Capote. Truman Capote came from a troubled beginning, between his mother and father separating to his mother’s drinking problem, Capote had a troubled childhood. But he always had a knack for writing. He published his first novel, Other Voices, Other Rooms, in 1948, and it was a hit. He wrote a few more novels between the time of the publishing of his first novel to the publishing of the hit that is called In Cold Blood.
In the novel In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, he uses pathos, diction and tone to characterize the killers. He characterizes Dick Hickock as the main character and Perry Smith as a tag-along. Capote mainly shows sympathy towards Perry because of Perry’s messed up past and his mental instability. Capote creates this sympathy through syntax and his elaborate sentence structure with the use of specific punctuation. He also has a very unique writing style with an interesting character development.
Reinhold Niebuhr 's quote does put things in perspective, we are a small snapshot in a much larger picture, we need to do our best with hope, faith and love to steer the ship in the proper direction. The quote also ties into Palmer 's idea that we shouldn’t be judging ours with effectiveness as the ultimate measure. It’s a little hard not to see the irony in the statement of not using effectiveness as our measure, especially after just finishing a business course which put emphasis on such measures. However, Niebuhr 's quote really does resonate the importance of our internal values versus our external success.

Theodore Roosevelt uses logos throughout his speech. He uses it to show that he knows what he is doing and using his intelligence to convey that he is the right person to lead the United States. When he says, “Upon the success of our experiment much depends, not only as regards our own welfare, but as regards the welfare of mankind,” it makes us think and feel that he knows what he is talking about, reassuring why he will be a good president. President Eisenhower, in his address to the country, more specifically the people of Arkansas, discusses the inevitable situation involving racial segregation occurring in Arkansas. Eisenhower’s purpose is to convey to the country that he will fight to preserve the decision that the Supreme Court came to on racial segregation. He adopts a personal tone in order to convey to the people of Arkansas that he understands how they feel in this situation. After establishing that he will do whatever is necessary to protect the rights of the students and connects with the Arkansas people by addressing the fact that his decision wasn’t based on his personal beliefs, Eisenhower shifts his focus to validating the citizen’s feelings of anger and feeling slighted. Eisenhower through logically crafted arguments asserts that he will use his powers to ensure the students’ rights aren’t withheld.
Everyone has heard of Adolf Hitler and how he tried to conquer Europe. He attempted doing it at the right time when everyone thought that Germany was going to lose everything, because, the national debt and inflation was so high. Germany was so desperate for anyone to help them that Adolf Hitler saw a chance to step up and be in charge of everything. Hitler was very good at acting like he really cared about his people. He claimed to the German people that he would help with unemployment, help businesses, success to the failed businesses, and to expand their army to make them more powerful.

In the book “In Cold Blood” by Truman Capote, Capote blantly describes the murderous acts of two men who killed an entire family they knew nothing about. The Clutters were good people who had no intention on hurting anyone. Dick and Perry, the murderers, had no reason to do this, meaning they had no motive for these actions and they can not be excused for their actions. In the beginning of the book, Capote introduces everyone to the Clutter Family, and a few pages further into the book he introduces everyone to Dick Hickock and Perry Smith.
