I am writing this letter because I want to avoid an academic dismissal or termination for the Master of Global Policy Studies at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. In April, when I was informed of my admission, a set of conditions was applied to my status as a Student. I met all of the conditions listed except the one that states I should not receive a grade lower than B in any of my classes. Unfortunately, I made a C+ in the Analytical Methods for Global Policy Studies.
This letter is not meant to make excuses for my academic performance in that class, but I would like to explain the circumstances and also demonstrate that I had a positive performance in my other courses. For the Fall 2016 semester, I enrolled in 4 classes: Microeconomics, …show more content…

I understand that my performance in Analytical Methods was less than the required or expect. During the first part of the semester, I was still working outside of school in my family’s business. Due to the nature of the business, this meant frequent trips to Laredo, McAllen, and Reynosa during the weekend or weekdays. This hurt my performance in my classes during the first part of the semester. Therefore, I resigned and as the semester progressed my grades vastly improved. What I have learned so far is invaluable to my future goals and success. I realize that I did not meet one of the requirements in one class, but I am certain that I will improve and exceed this semester’s performance in my next semester if given the opportunity to remain an active student. What starts here changes the world, and now more than ever in these turbulent political times I want to be an agent of positive change. I also feel strongly attached to the LBJ advantage because I do want to contribute to society in the public and social dialogue of our world. I am certain that my low grade in that class does not reflect that I am a bad student, on the contrary I know what I bring to the classroom discussion helps not only me but also my classmates. Regardless of the consequent decision, I felt that I needed to express the motives of why I want to remain at what became a very dear school to me, the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas. I know this is the perfect environment where I can keep learning from my peers and distinguished
