My weaknesses include procrastinating on subjects that I am not fond of and spending too much of my time on subjects I am fond of. For example, I found my Psychology courses to be riveting; more often than not would I spend time reading my textbook while flipping through pages. However, I found Economics to be a bore and would leave those assignments until the end. In turn, critical thinking and English are my strengths. Analyzing literary works, characters, and author’s purpose would get me the best marks, for I would view everything as a complex framework with many
First and foremost, I'm extremely excited for your class this year. I've always considered myself to be more of a writer than a reader, so your class seems perfect. Even though reading is essential in becoming a proficient writer, the mechanics and raw structure of writing is absolutely fascinating to me. Regarding my weaknesses, I’d like to develop my persuasive techniques, especially with using rhetorical devices-- specifically pathos-- within my analytical writing; I find it challenging to smoothly integrate more artistic methods into technical essays. I take constructive criticism very seriously, as I learn best when I see specific areas where my writing could be improved.
In the semester prior I had some challenges in my english class. The challenges weren’t really bad, but the challenges were affecting my grade. For example, I would procrastinate on doing the notes for “To kill a Mockingbird”, over the christmas break. Also, I found it harder to do the notes by myself than it was with a partner.
On the first major project, which was the email assignment, I did not add enough content which caused me to get a lower grade than I wanted. After seeing my grade on that assignment, I worked harder on processing my thoughts and I saw an improvement as the quarter went on. After reading the textbook I have also seen an improvement in my formatting and use of font, white space, and headings. What I have learned Throughout this quarter I have learned many new skills that I will continue to use in the future. Some skills that I learned to include:
This used to demotivate me and make me on papers, and hope that there were no mistakes. But, through this class, specifically the group work, I have learned to embrace my weakness and seek to improve it. Now I know that I might not have the skills of some writers but, hope to fill the skill difference with hard work. This hard work starts with editing, my first draft might not be below average but, with hard work I would be able to make the final above average.
How have I improved as a writer? I am thinking about my action plan as a writer have I improved, have I met the goals I set out to achieve on my first day of class, and what have I learned in this class? I will go over my time in this class and review the various topics I mentioned above and more. Looking back over my time in this class I will critique and praise myself. How I felt about writing when I first started this class compared to how I feel now, I would have to say I am more comfortable with writing.
My love for writing has continually driven me to become stronger in my overall writing skills, and if I am not challenged in a higher-level course, I will not continue to grow as a writer. A sense of excitement comes over me when I am challenged in English class because completing English work is an activity that I view as more than a schoolwork assignment, but as something that will substantially grow my knowledge in the world of literature. It can be said that I have the general work ethic required to succeed in an honors-level class, as well as the love for the course as a motivation to succeed and make every effort to prosper in Honors British
I thought that my writing skills were splendid and did not need much improvement, at least until the first day of my junior year when I took Creative Writing. The first day of my junior year was great, at least up until fourth hour. As I walked into my Creative Writing class, I was confident and ready to show off my writing skills. The teacher immediately assigned a three page story assignment.
Also my spelling was bad as I left this work for last minute and I had no time to read it again and change it all mistakes. Know when I'm doing my work I am using more books or article and less internet, also I'm doing my work couple days/ weeks before the deadline as this is giving me time to read my work and change all spelling mistakes, or add more information's to it. After getting my feedback from assignment 1 I know what teachers are looking for when they are marking the work, and by having this feedback I was able to improve my grades in this modules or others modules. This was very important for me as I'm doing two courses and these are sport and business.
There was many obstacles that impacted my grades in a negative way. The main obstacle I had was not being able to concentrating and also not being prepared for classes. I was stressing out and wasn’t able to get any sleep because I had to adapt to a new learning environment at a fast pace. During my first semester, I tried to maintain my calm and concentrate on my classwork but I was distracted with trying to adapt to environment. I attempted my best in completing all the work that was given to me but not being able to adapt to learning environment caused my downfall.
This spring semester, I supposed all my writings had both several strengths and weaknesses. I found that one of my strengths was how I was easily able to
As each writing assignments is graded, I realize how much I have improved as a writer by the grade and the fewer mistakes that I have made in them. As each time the grammatical and spelling mistakes are fewer on each paper. I want to share how I have grown as a writer on second semester by being in class and reflecting on my previous assignments. Even though there weren’t many writing assignments this semester. There were some assignments that I have done poorly on.
Throughout the term there has been many writing assignments —big or small— that helped reflect my writing process or the process itself. In the beginning of the course I felt like I was an “ok” writer, but lacked some skills such as: organization, sentence variety, and vocabulary. Also, I did not like to write and had a feeling of dislike when forced to write. I felt like I improved on everything I wanted and was seen throughout the semester. I know how to organize my ideas, the worksheets given in class to work on sentence variety really helped, and vocabulary was built on some level.
and I managed to pass the class with a B. My weakness this year was probably not having enough sleep. I get cranky when I don’t get enough sleep, and I realized I can’t focus when I’m in class. My strength this year was probably becoming more organized and setting a specific schedule for myself everyday. Since I have to work, I need to make specific time for my homework. I also need to have specific time to shower and get ready for school in the morning.
There are other areas in my writing that I have improved on. I have improved on my grammar, verb constructions, use of verb tenses and organizational skills to make my writing flow better when reading. My overall progress in completing this ten weeks course was wonderful. Every steps and skills I learned in this English class will help me to improve on my writing skills in my other classes and will also help me in my future
