English 235 Class Reflection Report

The purpose of this memo is to discuss in a reflective manner, my experience with the English 235 course and what it has given me in my college education. I will address the general benefit I received on a personal level, and then analyze the specific areas where the class has improved my professional outlook upon life after college.

Introduction
Before starting this class I felt that I struggled to convey my thoughts to the reader and I also struggled with coming up with enough content for my papers. On the first major project, which was the email assignment, I did not add enough content which caused me to get a lower grade than I wanted. After seeing my grade on that assignment, I worked harder on processing my thoughts and I saw an improvement as the quarter went on. After reading the textbook I have also seen an improvement in my formatting and use of font, white space, and headings.

What I have learned
Throughout this quarter I have learned many new skills that I will continue to use in the future. Some skills that I learned to include:
Full block format, Tables, Heading and footer. I found myself applying in all my emails the rules that are applied to them such as having an appropriate salutation, farewell and writing your name at the end of the email and not at the …show more content…

Whether at the workplace or a formal business event, a memo represents organization, formality, professionalism and comprehension of the task at hand. Without proper background knowledge behind the understanding of a memo, let alone the guidelines to create one, I followed the detailed example given by the instructor along with key tips from the course book. However, through multiple revisions I managed to improve my memo writing skills. With each revision I began carefully crafting my word choice. I eliminated or revised anything that seemed redundant, long, and confusing. By doing so, the assignment started looking like a professional workplace
