Liberal Arts and Engineering Engineering is often considered to be an incredibly sought after position by the secular world. It is a prestigious career, esteemed by many people for the financial compensation that it earns even without the necessity of a graduate school. For much of American undergraduates, this is the final destination for any college experience: a good job and the wealth that comes with it. However, for the Christian college student, the overall goal is to live a life pleasing to God, rather than to oneself. As Christians we are called to live our life to a higher standard, being examples in all that we do as stated by Titus 2:7-8, “In all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified, sound in speech which is beyond reproach…” (Titus 2:7-8 …show more content…
The liberal arts education prepares you for this in how it teaches you to be able to see God in all aspects of life, especially in nature and science. Romans 1:20 claims, “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made” (Romans 1:20 ESV). As Christian scientists, we will be able to see the world as the result of God’s beautiful creation and because of this respect it more. Liberal arts education would also help scientists defend their faith in how it teaches leadership skills. It allows the student of these teachings to be able to perform well in and relate to many different scholarly communities. From taking diverse classes, you learn more about the others and how to relate to their passions. These skills can allow you as an engineer to be able to defend your faith in Christ and show yourself as a positive role model that people would like to
