Is There life After the Amazon Fire Phone?
In a technologically-advanced age, cell phones are commonly used by individuals of all ages ranging from young children to the elderly. The slogan "Reach Out and Touch Someone" was adopted by AT&T in 1979 (AT&T Archives, n.d.). This slogan was created initially for a land line phone service. However, there is still some truth behind those words today even though the slogan changed in 1984. Amazon struck a deal to join AT&T and jump in the market with their version of a cell phone. In today's fast-paced society, we have the ability to call, text, email, and connect to social media directly from our smartphones. 15 – 20 years ago, the "norm" was to call and leave a message. Eventually, the intended recipient would be reached, or they would return the call. Today, we are so dependent on our cellular devices that we often cannot put them down and to some degree we are almost slaves to the devices.

Motorola and Nokia stand out as some of the first portable hand-held models. It is hard to believe we have come so far that we literally have mini-computers in our pockets that connect us to the world. The mobile phone industry is dominated by big names such as Samsung, Apple, and LG as well as with many other brands not as commonly known (Victor, 2015).
