Life today brings so many more advantages than life during the medieval times. We easily move from place to place and anything necessary for living can easily be bought. However, the ways of life were fascinating during the medieval time period. Items were not always available at the click of a button and people lived a different type of life. Women were perceived very different back then. They did not have any rights or freedom, they were basically property of men. Marriage was never about love it was only a business deal between the parents of the young man and woman being married. The woman had no say in who they married or when they got married, usually around the late teen years is when the marriages were arranged. Two of the four humors used during medieval times were earth and air, they symbolized black bile and blood. Doctors in medieval times did not always have a cure for every diseases, and even if they did the medication may not be available. For example, if a patient needed a treacle stem it would contain sixty ingredients and take forty days to make. Also, the patient would most likely be deceased by the time the treacle stem matured twelve years later. Keeping this in mind, the likelihood of people being cured and surviving was slim to none. Doctors during this time were more like drug dealers though, because they would sell drugs to people even if they were not the right ones just for money. Today life is easy, we do not have half the struggles faced during medieval times. As time passed many advances in medicine, woman's rights, and authority have come about.
